Studying at Portsmouth University

A couple of days ago we had the pleasure of hosting one of our Egyptian students in our Sheraton office.

We thought this could be a great opportunity to provide some valuable insight into studying at Portsmouth, and the UK in general, that couldn't be found elsewhere!

We asked our student, Sandra, some questions that hopefully you will find insightful.

Can you introduce yourself?

The UK is lovely, although it is very different to what I was used to in Egypt! The weather was very different, it wasn't as sunny or hot, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

There's a lot of different weather which creates a different atmosphere to the one I was used to in Egypt, which was very nice.

Portsmouth itself is beautiful. It's a small city by the seaside, but although it's small, there is a lot to do and both the University and ICP offer students lots of activities and societies to get involved in.

How well was your course taught?

The teaching at Portsmouth was excellent. In fact, Portsmouth was recently awarded gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

It was very easy to contact my teachers, as we could always contact them either by email or phone if we were struggling with our work.

The lecturers would also always go out of their way to help us as much as they could. They were really invested in making sure we did well, and would always try to help us as much as possible.

How did Global Study UK help?

I found Global Study's service very helpful, because as a student you don't really know the process of applying, you haven't done it before, so it is nice to have someone to tell you the next steps and guide you along the way.

It was also nice to have someone to tell me what was good and what wasn't when it came to filling out my application. ALways having someone to speak to to reassure me on what I was doing was very nice. My counsellor was also very nice, he was objective, gave me advice, told me what I should and shouldn't do, answered all of my questions in a clear way, and was very easy to get along with.
